    Care Foundation

    The Cancer and Allied Ailments Research (CARE) Foundation is a non-profitable charity organization launched by the Calicut City Service Co-operative Bank in 2011. The Foundation was started to join the greater fight against cancer. The Kerala Government, with special permission, allowed the Calicut City Service Cooperative Bank to release a loan of $ 100 m (INR 7000 m) to the Foundation for a hospital at Choloor, Velallasseri, Kozhikode. Thus began the work of MVR Cancer Centre and Research Institute on November 13, 2015, with the then Kerala Chief Minister laying the foundation stone. The Foundation has 17 members – 15 professionals from different walks of life and two government nominees. Donations to CARE are exempted from tax.

    MV RAGHAVAN

    The Visionary

    Respectfully called MVR, the late MV Raghavan was one of the revolutionary leaders of the Communist movement in Kerala. Born in an ordinary family in Pappinissery, Kannur, his political life began in his early teens. He served two terms as Minister of Co-operation and Ports in Kerala during 1991-1996 and 2001-2006. MVR revolutionized the co-operative sector by taking the people-powered movement to healthcare and education in the State. MV Raghavan realized the role of the co-operative movement in social development and job creation and he was instrumental in setting up various institutions in the state.
